Wire rope, which derived from iron chains, is an extremely strong type of cable used commonly for lifting or pulling heavy equipment and machinery. While wire rope is sometimes used interchangeably with cable, the term wire rope actually refers to a diameter larger than ⅜ inches. Wire rope gets its durability and strength from the many twisted strands that make it up. If there are any flaws on the any of the wire rope’s strands, the other wires pick up the slack. The twisting element of wire rope adds further strength. If you have any questions about wire rope, or the wire rope we carry, please let us know.
